Nitrogen doped TiO2 for efficient visible light photocatalytic dye degradation

In this study, Nitrogen doped TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by the sol gel method and physicochemical properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (DRS) techniques. The XRD data indicated that the nanoparticles had the same crystals structures as the pure TiO2</su...

ZnFe2O4 nanoparticle: Synthesis and photocatalytic activity under UV-vis and visible light

In the present work, the ZnFe2O4 nanoparticle has been successfully synthesized. The obtained sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and its optical property was examined by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. FE-SEM revealed that the particle size of the ZnFe2O4 of about 47 nm was synthesized. The photocatalytic performance under UV-Vis and vi...

Visible-light-induced photocatalysis through surface plasmon excitation of gold on titania surfaces.

Fifteen commercial titania (titanium(iv) oxide; TiO(2)) powders were modified with gold by photodeposition to prepare photocatalysts that work under irradiation with light in the visible range (vis). The gold-modified titania (Au/TiO(2)) powders were characterized by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), scanning transmission microscopy (S...

Gap-plasmon based broadband absorbers for enhanced hot-electron and photocurrent generation

Plasmonic hot-electron generation has recently come into focus as a new scheme for solar energy conversion. So far, however, due to the relatively narrow bandwidth of the surface plasmon resonances and the insufficient resonant light absorption, most of plasmonic photocatalysts show narrow-band spectral responsivities and small solar energy conversion efficiencies. Here we experimentally demons...

h-BN nanosheets as simple and effective additives to largely enhance the activity of Au/TiO2 plasmonic photocatalysts.

The activity of Au nanoparticle-loaded P25 TiO2 (Au/P25) plasmonic photocatalysts, evaluated by the oxidative decomposition of formic acid in water under visible light irradiation, was enhanced up to 3 times by simply mixing Au/P25 with photocatalytically inactive h-BN nanosheets as a result of electron transfer from photoexcited Au/TiO2 to the h-BN nanosheets and retardation of the charge reco...
